Sails Pearl Beach

the house

Three bedrooms with soaring ceilings and their own balconies, a big open living room, and a lit deck under the palms with a table for ten. Architect-designed, at the quiet end of Diamond Road, a 250-metre level stroll from the sand.

Living

one room, open to the bush

You come in through a wide hallway and the house opens into one big room under a soaring ceiling: timber floors, painted brick, wicker and leather, and artwork in every room to give it colour. The kitchen is properly equipped, with a dishwasher, a food processor and a capsule coffee machine with the capsules provided, and there is enough china and glassware for a full house. A glass dining table seats eight, the lounges seat six or more, and there is a TV with a DVD library and a dock for your music. Floor-to-ceiling glass along the back wall runs the whole room out onto the deck.

Bedrooms

six, comfortably

Three bedrooms, each with a soaring ceiling, built-in robes and its own balcony onto the garden. The main has a queen bed, a walk-in robe to unpack into, an ensuite and a TV, and opens onto the private deck at the back. The second has a queen and built-ins. The third has two single beds and a wall of glass to the bush, which makes it the kids’ room, the teenagers’ room or the friends’ room depending on the weekend. Six people, with room to breathe rather than room to squeeze. Beyond the ensuite there is a large family bathroom, a powder room off the hall and a fully equipped laundry.

Outdoors

the long lunch

The living room opens onto a deck under a canopy of palms, lit for dinner: a table for ten, an outdoor lounge for six, a barbecue with a pizza box, and the bush behind the fence. It is where most of the holiday happens, whatever kind of lunch or dinner you are after. Off-street parking for two cars at the front. No smoking anywhere on the property. The beach is a flat 250 metres away, out the gate and along the street.

The plan

Everything on one level. The living room and kitchen run the width of the house and open through the glass to the deck: a table for ten on the terrace, an outdoor lounge under the pergola, the barbecue at the end. The main bedroom has its own door to the deck; bedrooms two and three sit off the hall with the family bathroom, the powder room and the laundry.

Not to scale. The owner's storage room beside the entry is not part of the holiday let.
